Trudy Jones
Oil painting is something Trudy Jones, a local Eastern Shore artist, has been doing since her teens when her parents caved to her begging and enrolled her in private art lessons and later in the 1960s when she attended RPI (currently VCU) in Richmond, Virginia where she studied under the late James Bumgardner. However, it was many years and career choices later that Trudy came back to her life’s passion as a painter. Trudy is a member of The Artists Gallery in Virginia Beach, Virginia where she continues to study under Tom Murphy, an exceptional Norfolk artist. Additionally, she has studied with Kyle Buckland, Nancy Tankersley and Nicole Kennedy. From landscape to figures to abstract expression, and plein-air to studio painting Trudy continues to find inspiration in her work.
“Art should elevate the everyday and ordinary and allow us to see beauty that might otherwise be missed. To work as an artist is one of the greatest gifts I enjoy in life.”
