Megan Ames
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Megan resides on the seaside of the Eastern Shore, just north of Accomac. Most of her photographs feature the flora and fauna of the region. Megan’s husband Ted was born and raised in Onancock, and they have called the Eastern Shore home together for 20 years and counting.
It was a trip to the Costa del Sol region of southern Spain as a teenager that first inspired Megan to capture scenes through a lens. Taking photos as a hobby suited her for many years – using her three sons as occasionally willing subjects – until she began some outside portrait and family photography projects in 2021. Megan enjoys capturing moments in a photojournalistic style, using the photos to tell a story.
Megan works as the Director of Development and planning at the Barrier Islands Center, a museum and cultural center in Machipongo that seeks to preserve and perpetuate the culture and history of Virginia’s Barrier Islands through education and the collection and interpretation of artifacts.
