I grew up in small town Iowa, but wanted to get out and see the world, so I joined the Air Force. With my twin daughters, Shannon and Kathleen, along for the ride I spent a total of 35 years in Federal service as a military officer and civilian. In 2011 I took a chance on a handsome guy from King George, named Erik. He bought me my first camera so I could photograph our kids in their activities – golf, baseball, theater and equestrian. My camera and I know our way around a golf tournament or horse show!
In 2020, with the daughters gone to college, we retired to Cape Charles – small town Iowa with a beach! I needed a new subject for my camera and found the natural beauty that surrounds us here on the Eastern Shore. Erik, again, supplied upgraded camera equipment and the rest is a story that’s still unfolding. Each day I, along with my photo buddy Finley, find new, amazing animals and stunning sunsets to photograph.
My goal in wildlife photography is to bring you, the viewer, an accurate picture of nature the way I found it. I follow ethical standards for the wildlife, so I don’t disturb them, and I don’t over edit my photos to make them more dramatic. I want you to enjoy the beauty of the Eastern Shore just the way I saw it.
Having discovered this very special place, I want to help preserve it. I donate 10% of profits annually to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. #SaveTheBay
